A couple of weeks ago my mum was coming over to London from Austria. For years I already had the idea to surprise her with a day trip to Paris. She is 75 years old and has never been. Thanks to my fiancée for just taking action this year and booking Eurostar tickets for the three of us!
We were telling my mum that we planned a daytrip to Birmingham, so she literally just found out what’s happening when we went to the Eurostar check-in :)
2h20m later we arrived in Paris. We just had about 6-7h in Paris, so we just headed to Notre Dame, walked from there to the Eiffel Tower and then took the Metro to our last stop at the viewing platform on the Montparnasse Tower, where you can see the iconic view with the Eiffel Tower.
Unfortunately there was no time to see Mont Martre, and I didn’t have much time to take photos either. So I just brought my Fuji X100S and was still able to get some nice shots. I think I will even get a few large prints!
The viewing platform at the top of Montparnasse Tower was almost empty on that Monday afternoon, apart from a couple of other tourists, where you can see one of them in the picture below.
It was the first time I went to Paris, but definitely not my last. We are planning to come back for a whole weekend to explore more of this city. Also with just a 2 hour train ride away I am thinking of going there for another (longer) day just to take photos, as it seems to be a great place for some street photography!!
